tell me a bit about yourself and what your role moochi
i have always gravitated to creative roles with strong female leads, so coming to moochi as the merchandise buyer has been a dream fit. i studied fashion design and business management at aut and have had a fantastic career within the apparel and homeware industries both in nz and overseas
as the merchandise buyer i get to work with a diverse mix of people across the business, from design to marketing where no day or week is the same. i work closely with our designers, visual merchandiser and marketing team to oversee visual communications to customers, ensuring merchandise touchpoints in processes like ecommerce styling or email marketing reflect the intentions of our designers and embody the moochi styling aesthetic

what draws you to moochi?
moochi has been a part of the aspirational nz fashion landscape for most of my career. synonymous with quality and forward silhouettes in beautiful fabrications, moochi has always been my personal go to for forever pieces with a relaxed and elevated edge
what does fashion mean to you?
fashion is expression – it can speak volumes about a person without a single word being uttered. i love that just the subtle way you turn back a cuff or the silhouette of a pant can set you apart from the crowd. moochi designs speak to these subtle, considered points of difference that i covet - from texture and silhouette to unique prints

what does your holiday season look like?
this year will be different from previous, relaxing at our new shared family beach house in mangawhai. lots of quality time, good food, beach walks, swimming and watching my family catch waves
i'll also be visiting the west coast near waikawa beach (north of wellington) to see more family, which will be a mix of art trails, sand dune exploring and spending time with our family dog, elsie
any must haves coming up north with you?
i always have an oversized shirt at the beach house - looks effortless over pants or as is. also a soft, easy wear dress to elevate or pare back, and works as a beach cover up. top it off with a hat and slides for laidback, sun soaked days
what are you wearing in your day to day?
versatile layering pieces are my go to for summer - cottons, linens and denims are always in my wardrobe. shirts are another staple for me, styled done up or undone as a lightweight overlayer. rather than shorts i prefer soft pants, long dresses and floaty skirts

you’ve mentioned you love entertaining - what are you doing, what are you wearing?
we do love to entertain. we have a fabulous group of very close friends that are always part of our weekend activities - slow cooked meals over coals with great cocktails tend to the start of long lunches and sunset watching
on evenings i'm wearing wide leg jeans, a boxy tee and an oversized shirt to keep the mozzies off, accompanied by big denim jacket or slouchy knit for when the temp drops. during the day i'm in a breezy dress, elevates with jewellery and shoes (another passion!) if we have unexpected guests
do you have any expert tips for curating a holiday wardrobe?
make sure you are colour blocking your holiday wardrobe. make sure your favourite pieces allow versatile styling, choose items that can be mixed and matched through colour and allow layering opportunities. for example, the perfect dress can take you from day to night with different layering options
i always have multiple white tees and tanks, a favourite shirt as a piece of colour and black pants are a must
easy wear and care is essential for packing and summer travel. choose fabrications like linens, crisp cottons, soft jerseys and more denim!
and finally, what words are you living by this summer?
wind down, recharge, enjoy good food and even better company
quick fire q’s: what are you...
drinking?
tall tasty gin – loving all the amazing boutique varieties on offer
listening to?
according to my spotify wrapped – a lot of suki waterhouse
reading and watching?
just finished reading ‘ghosts’ by dolly alderton and watching christmas movies/series of course. ‘black doves’ on netflix (can i call this christmas? open to debate) and my favourite ‘home for christmas’, the norwegian version with subtitles – so good
coveting?
need the avid tee in cupro and the rosette dress
looking forward to?
heading to the beach for some serious down time with friends and family, with good eats and great tunes (promise not just suki waterhouse!)

as the merchandise buyer i get to work closely with our designers, visual merchandiser and marketing team to oversee how our garments are presented to customers. this involves visual aspects of processes like website styling, looking at how we show garments on our models and ensuring the details, fabric and colours are accurate and easy for you to shop. it can be easy for details to get lost in the journey from design to store so i ensure that everything is presented accurately to embody the moochi styling aesthetic
