tell me about yourself

I have done many things in my life, but always had a big interest in human nature, the mind and mental health.
I was in hospitality & retail for years, had my own shoe store in ponsonby for 10 years called Mei Mei, went on to study my post grad in psychotherapy and then trained to become a meditation teacher and breath worker. it is through breathwork that I recently reconnected with kellie (moochi founder), who I have known and respected
for years

describe your style in 3 words

flexible, eclectic, fun

how did you discover moochi?

I have shopped at moochi for many years. although I purchase less these days I still love a good dress and jumpsuit and have always loved how at moochi I can always walk in and find something that;
1. fits me and makes me feel proud of my curves
2. classic pieces that do not date and can dress up and down with accessories
3. very cool, individual pieces that suit my eclectic style
4. I love and trust the quality

what does fashion mean to you? how does it play into your day to day?

I’m a confident shopper and lover of all styles of fashion - I appreciate it all. I often dress based on my mood and have never had strong opinions or fixed ideas on style, even when I ran my own store. I really do love it all!

what are you coveting from our latest collection?

so many things! I just bought the ahead pant and shirr shirt and adore the gale dress, shirr kaftan, further jumpsuit, and darby short

get to know breathwork and meditation with jo pearson

I liken meditation as a top down, non active approach of getting to know ourselves as we are and welcome all parts of ourselves. it guides us to gently see where we are perhaps stuck, repeating patterns and inherited behaviours, and teaches us how to relate to stress, discomfort, and suffering differently. it is a practice that helps us settle into our own skin, becoming intimate and aware with how our thoughts create a chain event in our bodies, and how this energy then feeds more thoughts and our actions. this learning to sit in stillness with myself has been one of the kindest, most freeing, empowering things I have ever invested in myself

breathwork on the other hand is an active meditative practice. I love it because it can be used in many ways and I have now trained in various forms. I liken it to a bottom up approach that has helped me and many others get to know how their nervous systems are showing up for them and how to work with your energetic landscapes and nervous systems. this helps create more agency in your lives and energy to play with

breathwork and meditation both help create a more resilient and flexible nervous system. they help us move in the world from a place of stillness which you will come to find from experience is a far gentler, intentional and responsive way to move in the world, rather than reactive. it takes up less energy, encourages authenticity and helps us lean into our fears, current realities and discomforts and how to grow from them. these practices encourage the. cultivation of curiosity rather than judgement, compassion, and courage

get started on breathwork

one of the loveliest, smallest changes you can make today to help you get started is to, as often as possible, become aware of your breath. by doing so you will notice how you naturally begin to adjust your breath as you check in, scan and soften your shoulders, your jaw, thighs, and neck, then as you are to remind yourself, it can be a nice idea to place a picked flower near your laptop where you work or even in your car, and then every time you look at it become aware of your breath
